App takeover

We take over existing apps when the original developer can’t

Taking over someone else’s code is a skill of its own. The first job isn’t writing new features, it’s finding out what you have, making sure your company owns it, and stopping anything that’s about to break. Then development can continue safely.

How a takeover works

Step 1

Handover call

If the previous developer is reachable, we join a call with them and get the most out of it. If not, we work without them.

Step 2

Ownership

Repositories, hosting, domains, app store and third-party accounts moved into your company’s name, with old access removed.

Step 3

Code and risk review

We run the app, read the code, list the risks and estimate what each fix would take.

Step 4

Stabilize

Urgent bugs and security gaps fixed first, with monitoring added so problems show up before customers notice.

Step 5

Continue building

Once it’s steady, we pick up the feature list, or hand it back to your own team with full documentation.

Modernization

How we modernize without breaking things

See it in a real project
  1. Keep the back end and data where they are while the front end is replaced, or the reverse, so only one thing changes at a time
  2. Rebuild one module or screen at a time and release it on its own
  3. Write automated checks that compare the new version with the old one before anything is switched over
  4. Put new code behind the same interface the rest of the system already uses, so users and other services see no change
Half-built projects

Rescuing a stalled project

If a build stopped halfway, we tell you what is finished, what is half-done and what is missing, with an honest view of whether to complete it, cut it down, or start parts again. You get that in writing before you commit to anything more.

App takeover questions

Can you work with the previous developer?

Yes, and it helps when they’re willing. A short handover call can save days. If they aren’t available, we work from the code and the hosting setup.

What if the code is poor quality?

We’ll say so, explain what it means for you in practical terms, and recommend the least disruptive way to improve it. Most messy code can be made dependable without starting over.

Do you sign an NDA?

Yes, before you share code or credentials.
